The Port Moresby Golf Club Inc.is currently seeking to recruit an exceptional, performance driven Accountant to oversee the Finance Unit.
The Accountant is a critical member of the Management Team and provides the overall leadership of the Finance Unit to ensure it contributes effectively to achieve the organisation’s goals and objectives by ensuring prudential financial management systems and processes are applied and to facilitate sound business decisions by providing expert financial advice and information to the General Manager and the Executive Committee.
Major responsibilities
- Formulate financial strategies, key performance expectations, financial business plans and monitoring systems to ensure they are effective and meet Club objectives
- Carry out financial analysis and provide information on expense and revenue trends to the General Manager with appropriate recommended action for each business unit
- Identify and develop financial risk management strategies to safeguard the financial interests of the organisation
- Provide financial advice to the General Manager and Executive Committee, develop strategies to ensure profitability, growth and effective financial resource management
- Negotiate local financial institutions to secure financial resources
- Create a culture of high performance and continuous improvement within the Finance Unit
- Drive organisation change and operational excellence through effective benchmarking, performance management strategies and staff training
- Preparation of monthly and annual financial reports
- Preparation and lodgement of annual statutory and taxation reports
Required qualifications
- A Degree in Accounting or equivalent and must have at least 5 years experience in a Financial Management role with a minimum of 3 years in a Senior Financial Executive position
- Associate membership with CPA PNG
- Consistent and sound financial stewardship and advice
- An understanding of and experience in small to medium project management (including IT and capital)
- An understanding and experience in good practice procurement
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multi task/multi skill under pressure
- Must hold a current Drivers Licence, be physically fit.
